I have been playing bass guitar for 40+
yrs. and have found the Altec-421 series speaker to be the best for my
needs.
I will be having (2) 421's repaired by your shop in the near future,
after 30 yrs. of continous use. Both have been reconed before, and are
outstanding quality speakers. I would not use any others. Thanks to
you, there is somewhere I can still get them fixed, and retain my

Altec has produced a model call 9863 in
arround 1981 to 1982(not exactly know). This model produced under the
request for Japanse fans'. Altec made only 300pair directly ship to
Japan. This speaker were made to VS the JBL 4343. So they look semila
in outlook. I ship one pair from Japan to my home. I enjoying it very
much. And I want to know more info of this speaker, Anyone know? Or who
own this pair of speaker too please give a message! Thanks! |

I have owned Altec speakers since 1966- I
now have a pair of the A7-800 speaker system components (416-8A
woofers, 802 drivers with 811B horns). Since I could not find a second
N801-8A crossover, I built two Linkwitz-Riley crossovers, using high
quality air-core inductors and capacitors.

Manchester)from 1968 to 1981. I still have a pair of "Magnificents"
(A7-500W) in "like new" condition in my living room. In 1980 I stuffed

Bought my first Altec equipment in
1970 a pair of 411's with 511b horns w/802 8d hf drivers. I'm still
listening to them. The sound of properly working Altec's can't be beat
by any other speaker at any price!!
It's great to know that there are others
who recognize Altec's contribution
to the audio field. |

I'm restoring a set of Altec studio monitor
speakers. Not sure of model#. may be 8477. Each has (2) 12" woofers and
(1) cast aluminum horn. Crossovers were replaced by 1224 biamps. |

After several months of tests and
comparisons, I definitly choose SERIAL CROSSOVER for my VOT (515-8G +
909-8G + 2405H). I used ORCAD SPICE to determinate components values of
this crossover. I think that listening results are at least as good as
a multi-amplified system. My amp is a 300B SE with Audionote components
and interstage transformer. |

I just bought a pair of used Altec Model
19 monitors but somebody of the previous owners disconnected the
original crossovers and installed some small aftermarket crossovers
instead - like this they sound terrible.
Can anybody tell me how to connect the woofer and horn to the original
network (crossover) again which is mounted on the front plate of the
system.
Any help is very much appreciated. |
